Award Ceremony: Justus Bier Prize For Curators

Awarded were Dr. Andreas Beitin, Dr. Brigitte Franzen and Holger Otten

This year’s Justus Bier Prize For Curators goes to tAndreas Beitin, Brigitte Franzen and Holger Otten for the exhibition Mies van der Rohe. The Collages from the MoMA at the Ludwig Forum for International Art.

Andreas Beitin, Brigitte Franzen and Holger Otten are delighted that the curatorial work is enjoying such public appreciation. The curators explain that the concept of such an exhibition takes several years involving a lot of research. Brigitte Franzen conceived the world’s first ever exhibition of the world-famous collages by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe since 2013, which was developed independently and consistently by Andreas Beitin and Holger Otten and opened in 2016.

In addition to the buildings and furniture of the Aachen-born architect, the large-format collages form an independent part of the famous architect’s work. In the exhibition, they were contextualized by works of art from classical modernism as well as contemporary videos and photographs. The publication on the exhibition, with numerous texts by internationally renowned scientists, offers numerous new research insights on the work complex. It is particularly appreciated during the award ceremony.

The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, 22 March 2018, 8 p. m. at the opening of the exhibition Valdis Āboliņš. and how FLUXUS came to Aachen at the Ludwig Forum for International Art.
