The internationally renowned artist and curator, Gabi Ngcobo, will give a lecture on the closing weekend of the exhibition Belkis Ay\u00f3n. Ya Estamos Aqu\u00ed<\/em>. Ngcobo curated the 10th Berlin Biennale We Don’t Need Another Hero<\/em> in 2018, which included works by Belkis Ay\u00f3n, particularly the Consecration<\/em> trilogy from 1991 and the series of smaller round prints from 1998, all currently on view at the Ludwig Forum Aachen. Ngcobo\u2019s curatorial work has focused on postcolonialism and the reappraisal of History and Memory within collaborative and educational projects worldwide.<\/p>\n

Gabi Ngcobo\u00a0<\/strong>is an artist, educator, and Curatorial Director of the Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria (Javett-UP). Since the early 2000s Ngcobo has been engaged in collaborative artistic, curatorial, and educational projects in South Africa and on an international scope. In 2018 Ngcobo curatorially directed the 10th<\/sup>\u00a0Berlin Biennale titled\u00a0We don\u2019t need another hero\u00a0<\/em>and was one of the co-curators of the 32nd<\/sup>\u00a0Sao Paulo Biennale titled Incerteza Viva <\/em>(2016). She is a founding member of the Johannesburg based collaborative platforms NGO \u2013 Nothing Gets Organised (2016-) and the Center for Historical Reenactments (2010\u201314). Ngcobo\u2019s writings have been published in various publications including Shooting Down Babylon: The Tracey Rose Retrospective<\/em> at Zeitz MoCCA, Cape Town (2022), Uneven Bodies<\/em>, Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, Aotearoa New Zealand (2021), The Stronger We Become<\/em>, catalogue of the South African Pavilion, Venice Biennale (2019), We Are Many: Art, the Political and Multiple Truths<\/em>, and Texte zur Kunst<\/em> (2017).<\/p>\n
