Schatz explores the transformation processes in the Rhenish coalmining area, accompanying in particular the disappearance of Manheim, the last village according to the plans of the NRW state government and the energy company RWE, which is to be demolished for lignite mining (as of July 2024). As part of the project \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/manheim-calling.org\">manheim-calling.org<\/a>,\u201d Schatz began compiling an online index of the plants in this area in 2021. With the intention to study and preserve the plants growing there, Schatz relocates them to local cultural centers. The relationship between culture and nature is the focus of her research. During her walks and field studies in the abandoned village and its gardens, the artist also collects and observes the history and lives of the people and plants who once lived in Manheim, tracing the disappearance of human civilization and taking a look at the emerging natural vegetation.<\/p><p>Please register by email to <a href=\"info@ludwigforum.de\">info@ludwigforum.de<\/a><\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Details on the walk:<\/span><br \/>Individual arrival. Meeting point: Manheim market square, near the church. The walk takes about 3 hours. Cake and coffee will be served in the afternoon. Please make sure to bring enough drinks for the walk.
