Since 1 September 2025, the artists Rachel Dani\u00ebls and Vika Prokopaviciute have been guests at the Ludwig Forum Aachen as artists-in-residence of the Borderland Residencies programme. Before their residency concludes at the end of November, the two current fellows will present their works and ongoing research projects in their studio spaces at the museum.<\/p>

During her residency at the Ludwig Forum, Rachel Dani\u00ebls explores the material and metaphorical qualities of rubber, examining themes such as resilience, adaptability, and shifting identities within the Euregio. At the same time, she considers the material’s industrial origins, which raise questions around human craftsmanship, labour, and innovation, and reveal a tension between natural flexibility and constructed structure.<\/p>

Vika Prokopaviciute, is working on a series of paintings that engage with the concept of boundaries \u2014 investigating their potential as both separating and connecting elements, and reflecting on what lies beyond the limits of the canvas and perception.<\/p>

The Borderland Residencies programme offers the artists a unique platform to deepen their practice, engage with the specific cultural and social contexts of the region, and contribute to a vibrant artistic exchange across (national) borders. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and from funds of the RKP \u2013 Regional Cultural Program NRW.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Rachel Dani\u00ebls<\/strong> (b. 1998, Genk, BE) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans sculpture, installation, performance, and sound. After earning her Master\u2019s degree in Sculpture & Installation from PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt in 2023, she is now based in Brussels. Her performances and installations have been presented in a range of venues across Belgium, including Museum M, C-mine, Horst Arts and Music Festival, Annie Gentils Gallery, Whitehouse Gallery, and Base-Alpha Gallery.<\/p>

Vika Prokopaviciute<\/strong> (b. 1983, Lithuania) is a painter based in Vienna whose work navigates between abstraction and figuration. Her work has been exhibited at institutions such as Coulisse, Stockholm; Commune, Vienna; Salzburger Kunstverein; Nicodim, New York; House of Spouse, Vienna; and Spencer Brownstone Gallery, New York.<\/p>
