Social Mapping 2026

A nationwide project by Oscar Murillo

On the occasion of the current exhibition Collective Osmosis by Oscar Murillo at DAS MINSK in Potsdam (14 March–9 August 2026), we cordially invite you to the Ludwig Forum for a collective drawing session, the result of which will become part of a collaborative artwork.

Under the title Social Mapping, Murillo has been initiating these sessions since 2024 as a celebration of collective spirit anchored by the exercise of drawing and mark-making. While the exhibition is running in Potsdam, the project is taking place nationwide at different institutions. Participants will be free to draw and doodle on blank canvases with pens, pencils, crayons, and biros. At the end of the session, the canvases will be sent to DAS MINSK in Potsdam, where they will join material gathered from around the world.

The project will take place at the Ludwig Forum from 23–28 June 2026. This event is free to attend and participants of all ages are welcome. All canvas and drawing materials will be provided.

For further information on the exhibition at DAS MINSK, please refer to the museum’s website. The following institutions take part in the Social Mapping project: BLMK, Cottbus and Frankfurt/Oder (13 and 30 May 2026); Kunsthalle Bremen (30 May 2026); Frankfurt/Main, Museum Angewandte Kunst (30/31 May 2026); Staatliches Textil- und Industriemuseum Augsburg (31 May 2026); Overbeck-Gesellschaft Kunstverein Lübeck (6 June 2026); Galerie der HBKsaar, Saarbrücken (10–12 June 2026); Park Sanssouci, Potsdam (13 June 2026); Kunstmuseum Stuttgart (18 Jun 2026); Albertinum, Dresden (19/20 June 2026); Ludwig Forum Aachen (23–28 June 2026); E-WERK Luckenwalde (4 July 2026).

Oscar Murillo (b. 1986, La Paila, Colombia) has developed a multifaceted and challenging practice that spans painting, collaborative projects, video, sound and installation. Through his work, the artist probes ideas of collectivity and shared culture, demonstrating a commitment to the power of material presence alongside complex meditations on contemporary society. In 2019 he was one of four artists to collectively win the Turner Prize.
