Ludwig Forum Aachen is pleased to be part of the transnational network program Borderland Residencies for the first time this year. In addition to providing financial support for the scholarships, short-term artistic interventions and co-productions, the program also offers the opportunity to all fellows for professional and transnational networking, for deepening their own artistic practice, and opportunities to present work throughout the Euregion.
As the first fellow of this cooperation between Ludwig Forum Aachen and Borderland Residencies, we are pleased to welcome the sound artist and designer Tini Aliman from Singapore to Ludwig Forum Aachen. During her three-months stay in Aachen, the artist will focus on her ongoing research interest in forest networks, spatial acoustics, bio-music, botanical histories and the variables of data translations via biodata sonification. Drawing from the idea and image of ecotone – the transitional area between two ecosystems –, Aliman will explore the borderlands of the region and develop a new site-specific work reimagining the relationships across space, memory, time, environment and the senses.
Tini Aliman is a Singepore-based sound artist and designer who works at the intersection of theatre and film sound design, live sound art performance, installation and collaborative projects. Her research interests include but are not limited to forest networks, spatial acoustics, bio-music, botanical histories and thevariables of data translations via biodata sonification. She has been involved in projects, performances and exhibitions presented at National Gallery Singapore, NTU Center forContemporary Art, Biennale Urbana at Caserma Pepe, Venice, Singapore Art Museum and SFMOMA.
