Research
Research is a top priority at the Ludwig Forum. As a museum for contemporary art, we are dedicated to the art historical research of our collection. In the sense of “research curating”, exhibitions are developed that also make their own contribution to art studies in terms of form and questioning and characterize the historical development and significance of the Ludwig Forum in terms of content.
Our research projects shed light on the Ludwig Forum‘s video art collection in the project Videoarchiv or on art from the 1960s to the present day in the projects Die Erfindung der Neuen Wilden and Plattform Aachen. Currently, with Training the Archive, we are investigating the connection of our art collection with the technology of artificial intelligence. The Ludwig Forum is thus living up to its mission as a research institution. Science and art foundations such as the Kulturstiftung des Bundes, the Volkswagen Foundation, and the Gerda Henkel Foundation support us in this endeavor.
